Controversial Irish documentary about the state of the Irish republic in the late 1960s. Director Peter Lennon interviewed ordinary people, patriotic sportsmen and politicians, as well as priests and young children, to glean a picture of his country, and let his interviewees unwittingly reveal the depths of their small-minded prejudice. The documentary painted a portrait of a country that was censorious and repressed, and caused great controversy after one screening in Dublin. It was immediately pulled and has never been seen since in Irish cinemas or on Irish television.
